Hi All,
Winter's blast is here - I'm just hoping we get a mid-January thaw.  I thoroughly enjoyed Terry Kerber's presentation on the history of Major Taylor last week.  Very cool.

We had a nice turnout for the first Rotary Happy Hour at Arnie's on Thursday evening. However, it was packed due to their annual Banko kickoff event.  Bill Wermerskirchen was a big winner of some tasty looking t-bones!  Thanks to Joe Vaughan for planning the event and to everyone that turned out on a cold and blustery evening.

Sheila McNeill passed on an update from Noah - our outbound exchange student.  - see his email below.

Sheila,
Happy Holidays to all of you! My apologies for not writing sooner, paradise does not always have Wi-Fi! :) I just wanted to wish all of you a Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year! Things are going FANTASTIC for me in Brasil! I have only a few days left before I leave on the legendary Northeast Tour! I wanted to take a second to thank you, especially, along with the entire Shakopee Rotary club for granting me this glorious opportunity. Cultural understanding and my new found love of the language are things I can never repay you for. I hope all is well with you, I am sure the club is doing incredible things as they always do.
I just updated my blog about how I spent the holidays, and about my upcoming Tour!  Below I have some photos of over the holidays, the first two are with my first host family the Rudnicks, over Christmas and the third is with my second family, the Fronzas, over New Years! Send my best wishes to your family, and the entire club.  (FYI: I had trouble with the photos and send them once I get them downloaded)
Beijos and Carpe Diem,
Noah Estabrooks

Next Tuesday is our Assembly - A refresher on why we're Rotarians!  We'll 'LIGHT UP ROTARY" with a quick update on the past 6 months, and a discussion on what's planned for the remainder of the year.  AND on top of that fun... John Crooks will delight us with his fine master wit, and Greg Hoehn is our greeter.

Remember:
Reception on Tuesday January 14 for Mark McNeill at Turtle's Social Center from 4:30-7:30 pm
January 17 - Rotary Mid-Term Assembly at MN Arboretum.  You can still attend, however, without lunch.
January 20 - Speaker Mary Romanski "Good to Go Kids Program and Camp Enterprise"

Light Up Rotary!!

Cheers,
Kathleen Klehr
President 2014/15
