Hi All,

Another fun meeting this week.  Great ice breaker by Bob Greeley.  I had no idea he was so involved with sports!  Thanks for sharing Bob.

Tag-team of Chris Kost and Jason Marschall led us through Club Runner with tips to make using it much easier.  Plus they identified some great tabs where we can update our own information and keep tabs on our commitments!  Thanks guys for helping to make this less of a mystery and more of a tool.

Joe Vaughan ensured we had a Happy St. Pat’s Day by leading us in “Oh Danny Boy” – one of my personal favorites! Joan Lynch was the perfect stand-in for Bill Wermerskirchen as fine master this week.  FYI: Bill & Gini were cheering at Target Center.
Please join me in thanking John Crooks for volunteering to attend the Rotary grant seminar on April 25.  Attendance is required at this seminar in order for our club to be eligible for matching grants from the District or RI for the 2015-16 year.

Thanks also to Michelle Dahl and John Canny for agreeing to serve on the Muralt Award committee.  It’s great to see new members join in the fun.

Next week:
We welcome speaker Emilia Gonzalez Avalos, Navigate MN – “Current Immigration Topics”  This should be a very interesting talk and I encourage you to invite your colleagues, friends and family members to attend.

Kevin O’Brien will coax dollars from our pockets as fine master, and Jon McBroom will get us warbleing as song master!  New greeters next week are Bill Nevin, Kevin O’Brien and Lynn Pauly.

Mark your calendars:
  • March 31 – Loaves & Fishes – we still need a few more people for the clean-up crew.  Check with Lorri Helkamp.
  • April 7 – Shakopee Reads!  Joan Lynch is collecting volunteers to help out with this really fun service project
April - Rotary Happy Hour at Arizona’s
  • Now through April 24 – Book collecting!  We’re aiming for 100% participation from Club members to collect books.  Please contact Gary Martini to be sure your name is on the list as hosting a collection site.  PLUS – having your name on the list enters you into a drawing for some very cool prizes!
  • May 16 – Rotary District Conference at Radisson Blu in Bloomington at the Mall of America (see the note below for details)

News:
  • RI Convention is in Sao Paulo, Brazil!!!  Please contact me if you plan on attending the convention as you will need credentials for club voting.  Check out details here http://www.riconvention.org/en/2015/Pages/ridefault.aspx
  • The District Conference is geared towards sharing with your families what Rotary means to the community. I had a really fun time last year. Let’s have a large contingent of our club attend!!  More details here  http://goo.gl/z3Qn89

Quick Question:
Our weekly meeting attendance has been low for quite a while.  I’d be interested in learning what barriers there are to attending.  Please shoot me an email, give me a call – or leave me an anonymous note. smiley

Light UP Rotary!

Cheers,
Kathleen Klehr
