Hi All,

It was a pleasure to attend Rotary this week to honor Paulette Rislund as our W. Adair Muralt Award winner this year. She emulates the Rotary motto of "Service Above Self", and it has been a joy to say that I have had the opportunity to work with her over the past few years for the Shakopee career fair.  Thanks Paulette!

Congratulations also to Gary Timm for receiving a Paul Harris award.  It's heartwarming to have a non-Rotarian receive this award.  Barb Danielson accepted the award on Gary's behalf.

Thanks to Harold Armstrong, Michele Dahl and Art Quinn for organizing the event, and thanks to Bill Wermerskirchen for sharing Doc. Muralt's background and Jon McBroom for being our master of ceremonies.  I am truly grateful to be surrounded by such caring and giving members of our community.

Next week Mary Hernandez offers us a double-treat; sharing a bit of her background as an icebreaker, and giving us a presentation on Esperanza.  This would be a wonderful meeting to bring a guest!  Just back from the south - Art Quinn will try to keep us in tune as song master this week, and The one-and-only Gary Martini will bring his wit to the podium to coax dollars from our wallets as fine master.
We will also be awarding the Paul Harris awards to those that were not able to attend last week.

Remember:
May 16 - that's tomorrow folks: is the Rotary District Conference at the Mall of America, Radisson Blu - hope to see you there!

Keep on smiling and Lighting Up Rotary!

Cheers,

Hi All,
Last week was pretty busy.  Thanks to everyone that attended Mary Hernandez's icebreaker & Pastor Pat Simmons presentation on Esperanza.  I was impressed by the number of youth served and their outcomes.  It was heartwarming to know that that this program works in our commu ity and that Shakopee Rotary is one of their sponsors.
Congratulations to Linda Plum and her daughter to whom we awarded a Paul Harris award. Linda is a Paul Harris plus one!
It was my pleasure to award two Shakopee Dollars for Scholars Rotary Scholarships last Wednesday morning to Said Bakr and Rachel Kahnke. The award breakfast was delightful and packed.  Congratulations to all the students.  FYI: you can still drop off your Shakopee Cub receipt to support Dollars for Scholars thoughout the summer!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend.  This week we welcome Mayor Brad Tabke and Jamie Polley from the City of Shakopee speaking on "What's up with the Shakopee Community Center?". Our greeters are Tony Spagnolo, Alan Spillers and Kevin Studnicka.  Our songbird is Linda Plum and the fine guru is Ron Smith.   This would be a good meeting to invite prospective members!
