Hello and Happy November!

As the leaves fall and the wind blows I hope you are all settling in and getting ready as soon the snow will fly and winter will truly be upon us! Hopefully, you all had a great Halloween and weren't too spooked!

Last week we had Dan Christianson give us a presentation on Credit Card Protection.  Dan brought us a lot of good and usable information regarding how to protect our cards and our personal identity. Useful information in today's world of credit card and identity theft.   Thanks to Charlie Sunder for bringing this interesting and timely speaker to our meeting.

This week Sandi Wedmann will introduce our speaker, Janna Grassel from the Shakopee Crime Prevention Dept. She is a specialist in this area and will provide us with information regarding her area of expertise. Who couldn't use a bit more knowledge on how to avoid crimes and protect ourselves? We will have Joe Vaughan again this week at the Greeters Table and whomever Joe Schmidt found to help him out this week.  Thanks to Chris Kost for filling in last week and helping Joe man the Greeters Table for us.  Our Finemaster this week is the new, proud "dad," Jim Conway and our Songmaster is the guy who gets us to sing, David Esposito.  Thanks to all of you for volunteering your time to help out at our meetings.

This week you will be lucky to have the one and only history guru, Kathy Klehr leading your meeting. Kathy has graciously agreed to lead the next three meetings for me, while I take a paternity leave for a Spanish teacher up at the high school. So, you can see if her jokes are better than the ones I come up with each week. My thanks to Kathy for her willingness to replace me in my absence.

REMINDER:  Next week, November 12, is our annual Auction and we will be meeting at Arizona's.  Please be sure to bring an item or two to auction. If you can let me know items of special interest and with dates such as tickets to plays and sporting events, I can let people know in advance of the auction so they can be prepared and check calendars.  Also, any other specialty items you would like people to know about in advance so they can prepare their bidding in advance.  So far, I have only received notice that Charlie Sunder will be donating 2 of his wonderful "smoked pheasants" this year.  What a great idea for your upcoming holiday parties and family gatherings.

Mark your calendars for Tuesday, December 3 for our first annual Toy Drive and Social with Prior Lake and Savage Rotary Clubs at Arizona's from 4-7 PM. Bring a toy and $10 will buy you appetizers and a free drink. Beer, wine and rail drinks will be available. We will NOT have our regular Rotary meeting during the noon hour that day. So, plan to bring a spouse, significant other, friend or business associate and help make this Christmas extra special for our needy families and spend some time with your fellow Rotarians and community leaders.

In Rotary Peace and Service,

Sheila McNeill
President, 2013-14
