President's Weekly Message for Meeting Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Dangerfield's
Good Evening All!
A beautiful Sunday today. Mark and I put 30 miles on the tandem and it felt great to just be outdoors and enjoy the day. I hope all of you had a chance to enjoy this weather too!
Last week we had Nathan Shenk speak to us about the Burma Rangers and the plight of the people of Burma (A.K.A. Myanmar). He gave us interesting insights into the longest running civil war in history and what is happening there currently to try and help these people.
This week we are excited to welcome our own International Exchange Student, Valerie Huber. Valerie will be giving us a presentation summarizing her year in Shakopee and her impressions of life here in the U.S. On Friday, The Busch's, Helkamp's, McNeill's and Chuck Huss attended her grad party at the home of the host family Jenny and Pat Ames. Despite the somewhat rainy weather, it was good to spend time with Valerie and talk to her about her exciting East Coast tour she will be going on next weekend with the other exchange students in the District. She was so excited about graduation which, was yesterday for the Shakopee High School students. Please come out and hear Valerie's presentation and wish her well as she goes on to her next adventure and eventually returns to Switzerland.
This week you will be greeted by the 3 M's again, McBroom, Marschall and McNeill. The Finemaster this week is Ron Smith and the Songmaster is the always creative guy, Mark McNeill. The Valley Fair exchange student event is taking place on Saturday to Sunday June 14-15. See Chuck Huss if you can volunteer for one of the shifts. it is a great experience to spend time with these International students and they are so grateful to Rotary for hosting the event too.
See you Tuesday!
In Peace and Service,
Sheila McNeill
