Shakopee Rotary Welcomes Our Newest Exchange Student Mariana

Mariana's full name is Mariana Salgar Sarmiento and she is from Cucuta, Colombia. Her native language is Spanish but she has studied English for about 9 years in school.  She has two older brothers and her father is an anesthesiologist and her mother is a marketing specialist. She is a junior in high school and her career goal is to be a doctor and to work alongside her father someday.

Her current hobbies are tennis and golf.  She even brought her clubs to America so I think she is a serious challenger for some of the men in our club! Here are her exact words when asked in her bio what does she hope to accomplish as an exchange student...

"During my exchange I hope I learn about a different culture. I want to have life ties with my host families and maintain good relationships with them. I am sure that everything I learn is going to be very helpful to me and I will be able to teach about my experience in Colombia. Since this exchange program is new for me, I also know that this experience will make me grow as a person."
